Higham Lane School: Securing Funding to Build a New Sixth Form Block
Issues to address
Higham Lane had not traditionally been able to have a sixth form provision in the past. However, S2e were able to secure £2.1m to build a brand new sixth form block. We invited 3 companies to tender for the project which S2e won, thanks to their forward thinking and value for money proposal. One of the key objectives was to make sure that the new building was sympathetic to the rest of the school.
Working together
S2e pulled out all the stops to deliver on this project. They were able to make sure that the materials used in the build were sympathetic to the rest of the school, despite using a more modern modular
system at the base. Their expertise and knowledge meant that they were able to leverage much lower build costs, resulting in the project coming in at under £1,500 per sqm –this was absolutely exceptional and made sure that we made the most of the funding available.
The Outcome
Not only were S2e able to deliver exceptional value for money, they also completed the project in an extremely short period of time. They were on site in April and the whole project was completed by the end of July, meaning that we had plenty of time to get ready for the new influx of sixth form students in the coming school year.
