Case Study: The Winstanley School
A true collaborative partnership
S2e has been in a collaborative partnership with The Winstanley school since 2014, bidding and securing for funding and prioritising the allocation by fully understanding the current and future demands on their existing estate.
The Winstanley School is a small school in Leicestershire and is part of the LiFE Multi Academy Trust that provides a breadth of specialist services and education expertise to deliver high academic achievement and outstanding leadership support.
In 2018, The Winstanley school had an old kitchen that was non-compliant against latest statutory regulations and posed huge fire risk to the safety of the school and its pupils. As this was a pressing issue, S2e were asked to step in and secure much needed funding as well as oversee the refurbishing of a safe and new kitchen.
By tapping into our track record of funding success and delivery of over 700 capital projects, S2e were able to secure funding for the kitchen refit through a Condition Improvement Funding (CIF) bid. By using our knowledge and expertise, we quickly devised a plan to address any safety issues such as poor ventilation and the absence of a gas safety interlock system, as well as making sure the new layout and materials used did not pose a fire risk. Crucially, we did not just replace like for like, we re-designed the kitchen with the help of the school’s Head Chef ensuring that the final layout design was efficient for everyday usage.
