Issues to address
East Midlands Education Trust (EMET) receives £2 million p.a. in SCA for our 12 primary and secondary schools. In 2020 we wanted to fully refurbish Holywell Primary’s classrooms, demolish the caretaker’s bungalow for a car park and add a new playground canopy.
At Gilthill Primary difficulties arose when previous contractor prices were above our budget for vital Health & Safety work to replace rotten timber-post retaining walls.
At Larkfields Infant School we faced another challenge with the old kitchen stripped out and a new one required within weeks.
Projects completed
Fortunately, we had appointed S2e as our professional estate advisers. Their work was seamless over the summer at Holywell, managing the project from beginning to end.
S2e swiftly brought in a better, more cost effective contractor thanks to their negotiating skills and network of loyal suppliers. They then completed the project superbly.
At Larkfields S2e mobilised their contractor base again to design and install a stunning new kitchen and provided all of the project management to make it happen.
The Outcome
More than 600 pupils across the three primary and infant schools are now learning in gleaming facilities at Holywell, knowing they are secure at Gilthill, and being better fed at Larkfields.
All thanks to an extraordinary summer where S2e excelled despite the immense challenges posed by Covid-19.
